‘Killarney’ is a hybrid variety; attractive, bright, shiny, red berries with great aroma and flavor. Its sweet flavor makes this berry ideal for freezing, canning, and of course, pies! This winter hardy variety was hybridized in Manitoba and tolerates a wide range of climates. ‘Killarney’ is one of the most disease resistant raspberries, making it easy to maintain, and great for inexperienced gardeners or those seeking a low maintenance plant. Good quality fruit. Firm, shiny, dark red fruit. Uniform shape.
Plant as soon as soil may be worked in the spring. Your plants require 1″ of water per week during the growing season and regular, shallow cultivation. The bush will bear only on one-year-old stems. As soon as canes have produced fruit, prune them back to the ground to make room for the strong new canes. Additional pruning will be required to eliminate tangling and improve their ability to bear.
