YCCD TO HOST LEAVING A LASTING LEGACY – FARM/RANCH ESTATE & SUCCESSION PLANING WORKSHOP

Many farm/ranch families struggle with questions for the transfer of property to the next generation. Such as “How can I be fair to everyone involved?” “Who will take over running the operation?” “Who will take care for me in my last years, months and days?” “What can I do to help to make things easier when I pass away?” It is hard to approach these issues calmly when there are strong feelings about what is important.

The Yuma County Conservation District (YCCD) is hosting Jeff Tranel from Colorado State University Extension on Wednesday, March 26th from 10:00am to 3:00pm at the Wray Roundhouse (245 W 4th Street, Wray, CO) to assist farm/ranch families find solutions to secure their legacy and family future. Lunch will be provided as part of the workshop.

In this workshop you will learn about sharing your values and life lessons with future generations, planning for retirement, planning for important end-of-life issues and transferring your finances and real estate. In addition, area estate and succession attorneys along with financial planners will also hold a panel discussion to share key points to consider when hiring an attorney and financial planners to handle your estate followed by one-on-one meetings with producers. With the support of local sponsors (Bank of Colorado, CSU Extension Yuma County, First Farm Bank, First Pioneer National Bank, FNB Bank in Kirk, Premier Farm Credit, TBK Bank, Wray State Bank and the YCCD), there is no cost for this seminar.
