About the event

Agrivoltaics & Beyond: Balancing Agriculture, Conservation, Property Rights, and Rural Development

Agrivoltaics, renewable energy, transmission, data centers, and other large-scale development opportunities are increasingly becoming part of the conversation in rural Colorado. What do landowners and local decision-makers need to know when one of these projects comes to their community?

The Yuma County Conservation District, with funding from the Colorado State Conservation Board and assistance from the Northeast Colorado Regional Partnership, is hosting a one-day educational workshop designed for producers, landowners, county commissioners, planning commissioners and staff, conservation districts, and other local leaders.

We'll start with Agrivoltaics 101—what it is, current research, grazing and crop applications, pollinator habitat, producer opportunities, conservation considerations, and examples from Colorado. From there, we'll broaden the conversation to look at many of the same questions surrounding utility-scale solar, wind energy, transmission infrastructure, data centers, oil and gas, carbon markets, and other emerging rural land uses.
