About the event
Join the Yuma County Conservation District for an afternoon at Bonny Reservoir to see adaptive grazing and conservation technology in action.
This field day will highlight the ongoing effort to use managed livestock grazing to improve rangeland health, restore wildlife habitat, reduce excess vegetation and wildfire risk, and support the long-term management of the Bonny Reservoir area.
Attendees will learn about the history and management challenges at Bonny, the development of livestock water infrastructure, and how cattle are being used as a management tool across the property. We’ll also explore Halter virtual fencing technology, which allows grazing areas and cattle movements to be managed without traditional interior fencing, and RangeView forage biomass monitoring used to evaluate vegetation conditions and grazing impacts.
The afternoon will include presentations from project partners, a producer perspective, technology demonstrations, and an opportunity to compare grazed and ungrazed areas.
A complimentary chuckwagon-style Dutch oven lunch will…
